Who we are

Sports Psychiatry Hub is a community for everyone committed to advancing athlete mental health. We welcome all who share a passion for supporting the mental well-being of athletes. While our primary mission is to address the limited educational, training, and professional development opportunities available to psychiatrists in sports psychiatry, we firmly believe that exceptional athlete care depends on interdisciplinary collaboration. Our educational programs, research initiatives, and community engagement efforts are intentionally designed to bring together professionals across disciplines, reflecting the integrated models of care that best serve athletes.

Mission

Our vision is to become the premier community for medical professionals, trainees, and students dedicated to athlete mental health. Through education, mentorship, research, collaboration, and advocacy, we strive to advance the field of sports psychiatry, foster interdisciplinary partnerships, and improve mental health care for athletes at every level of sport.

Roy Collins, MD

FOUNDER, CHAIR

Dr. Roy Collins is an academic psychiatrist and clinical faculty member at Stanford with a longstanding interest in the intersection of mental health, performance, and athletics. His clinical work includes the evaluation and treatment of athletes across a range of competitive levels, helping individuals navigate mental health challenges while optimizing performance and well-being.

Drawing on his training in psychiatry and his experience working with athletes, Dr. Collins recognized that opportunities for education, mentorship, and professional connection in sports and performance psychiatry were often limited and difficult to access. To help address these gaps, he founded Sports Psych Hub, a platform designed to bring together clinicians, trainees, and others interested in the field.

Through his academic, clinical, and educational work, Dr. Collins is committed to advancing the development of sports and performance psychiatry and supporting the next generation of professionals interested in this emerging specialty.
